Dear Diary,
Have you ever noticed how healthy habits are always tough to follow and maintain compared to an unhealthy lifestyle?
It often begins with “Don’t do this or this might happen,” whereas when it comes to something wrong or something that might not be good for me, I always find myself thinking, “If I do this, I am going to feel like this,” or “I am going to feel so good.”
A Sentimental Battle with Unhealthy Habits
Unhealthy habits often lead to an unhealthy outcome, and my reaction is the total opposite. I become like a perfect person who never engages in a destructive cycle. Even when I know something is not good for me, I still risk everything just to do that thing. I guess it can feel kind of liberating.
Mockery of Forced Actions
It’s like when you’re washing the dishes, and suddenly your mom comes in and tells you to wash the dishes, and now you don’t want to do it anymore.
Letting Go of Past Habits
Right now, I have left most of the not-so-good habits behind. After letting them go, I realized they were not liberating but rather comforting at that particular phase of my life. These habits shaped who I am, but it is time to move on. This is what life is supposed to be about. It is not about a healthy or unhealthy lifestyle, but rather a process of letting go of something that no longer belongs in your life.
With Grace, Embrace the Imperfect
However, sometimes you need certain habits in your life so that you don’t take life too seriously. Not everything will go according to plan or schedule, and you can’t be someone who has to be perfect all the time, following every single rule. We are humans, and life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. So, don’t be so hard on yourself. You have every right to make the most out of your life. Embrace your journey, flaws and all, and find balance in the process.
